SEMINAR

A View from the Bench: What We’ve Learned in Three Years will provide top tips, best practices, and practices to avoid from two judges who preside over civil, criminal, and family court cases in the Erie County Court of Common Pleas.

SPEAKERS

Judge Erin C. Connelly Marucci was elected to the Erie County Court of Common Pleas in 2019. Judge Marucci is assigned to the civil trial division and family division. She also presides over dependency and delinquency cases. She previously served for 16 years in the District Attorney’s Office, including a position as Chief Deputy District Attorney from 2017 to 2019. In the District Attorney’s Office, she conducted more than 150 jury trials, prosecuted 26 homicide cases and acted as lead prosecutor in sexual assault and domestic violence cases. Marucci is a member of the Pennsylvania and Erie County Bar Association, and is a Protection From Abuse Coordinated Services Board member. In 2004, she was recognized by the Crime Victim Center of Erie County for her role in reducing the impact of crime in the community. She is a volunteer with Books for Kids, the Wills for Heroes Program and the Attorneys and Kids Together Program. She has also served as a high school mock trial coach and adjunct professor at Mercyhurst University. Marucci, an Erie County native, earned a Juris Doctorate from the Duquesne University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Judge David G. Ridge was elected to the Erie County Court of Common Pleas in 2019. Judge Ridge is assigned to the criminal and civil trial division. He previously was in private practice, most recently as the sole practitioner in the Ridge Law Firm. He is admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court in the Western District of Pennsylvania, the Northern District of Ohio and the Eastern District of Michigan, and the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He has been active on the Hearing Committee of the Disciplinary Board of Pennsylvania and the Erie County Bar Association Board of Directors. He was on the Presque Isle Advisory Committee, the Erie County Children and Youth Advisory Committee, and the Friends of the Tom Ridge Environmental Center. An Erie native, he earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh Law School and a bachelor’s degree from Allegheny College
