SEMINAR

In a panel discussion format, attendees will learn about different issues that commonly arise in connection with estate planning and the panel’s suggestions and practices for addressing such issues. Emphasis will be placed on fundamentals as distinguished from more sophisticated forms of planning and procedures. This seminar will be especially suited to recent admittees, and those experienced practitioners who are considering adding estate planning to their practice.

SPEAKERS

  • Atty. Jeffrey D. Scibetta’s (moderator) practice involves complex estate planning and administration, business planning, succession planning, tax planning, elder care planning, and real estate. He is a licensed title insurance agent in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia and previously worked in the Tax Department of the Washington, D.C. office of Deloitte & Touche. He also served as a Judicial Clerk to the late Arnold Raum of the United States Tax Court.
  • Atty. Melissa L. Larese practices in the areas of the probate and administration of decendent’s estates, assisting individuals in obtaining adult and minor guardianships, elder care planning, and estate planning, including wills, power of attorney, health care powers of attorney and living wills. She also has experience in residential real estate transactions, wherein she represents borrowers, buyers and sellers in residential real estate closings.
  • Atty. John J. Shimek, III (Jay) is a partner in the law firm of Sterrett Mott Breski & Shimek.  He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and English from Boston College, a Master’s Degree in English from Gannon University, and his JD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law at the age of 37. The majority of his practice is in Estate Planning and Estate Administration. He also practices in the area of Real Estate Law, and is a Pennsylvania licensed title insurance agent. From 2002 to 2004, he served as District Justice in the City of Erie’s Fourth Ward.
  • Atty. Grant M. Yochim holds a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications from Penn State University and a Juris Doctor degree from the Cleveland-Marshall School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was the recipient of the Pro-Bono Award in 2008. Grant is licensed to practice in both Ohio and Pennsylvania. Grant has been awarded the status of a Certified Elder Law Attorney from the National Elderlaw Foundation upon passing the CELA Exam in the summer of 2019.
