Another way to find an attorney is by calling the Erie County Bar Association's Lawyer
Referral Service which is a public service designed to assist you with finding an attorney who
practices in the area of law in which you need advice. The Lawyer Referral Service is open Monday
through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to Noon and 1:15 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The Referral staff will refer you to one private attorney for a half-hour consultation in his or
her office for advice at the reduced rate of $45.00 for that half-hour appointment. This is an
opportunity for you to meet with the attorney and obtain advice and guidance as well as answers to
any legal questions you may have. You are under no obligation to hire the attorney following your
half-hour consultation. However, should you choose to hire the attorney to assist you further, the
attorney can discuss at this first appointment what fees will be involved in handling your case. The
Lawyer Referral Service does offer a free consultation to clients with legal issues involving the areas
of: 1) Personal Injury matters where there is bodily injury; 2) Workers' Compensation, where the
client has received written notice of denial or the employer has filed a petition to reduce or stop
payments; 3) Medical Malpractice; and 4) Social Security Disability and SSI cases.
The Lawyer Referral Service number is (814) 459-4411.
If you need an attorney and don't have one, the Lawyer Referral and Information Service can help.
